How to see all of your friends’ news feeds on Facebook

Recently Facebook updated the way information is shared between friends. Some of us have hundreds, even thousands of friends and rather than letting people get overwhelmed with updates from friends on the feed page, Facebook has opted to begin showing only relevant news items. Relevance is determined on on the friends’ pages you visit regularly or have emailed and commented on etc. This is a great update in some ways, I personally hate being overwhelmed on sites like Twitter by updates from people I don’t care about, but there are times I would like to see all of the updates that are going on… not just the “relevant” ones.

This kind of thing also recently happened with Gmail and the whole “important” marker that appears next to messages that will be sorted into your priority inbox. Anyway, not to be distracted!

So how do you change your homepage friend-feed on Facebook back to showing all of your friends’ updates instead of just some?

On your “News Feed” home page, click the “Most Recent” title on the right of the News Feed then click on the drop down arrow beside it to show the drop-down menu and select “Edit Options.” Click on “Show Posts From” and change the setting to “All Of Your Friends and Pages.” Another way to do it is to access the “Edit Options” link at the very bottom of the Facebook homepage on the right. Note: Business pages do not have a news feed. Owners of business pages should adjust the settings on their personal accounts for this fix to work.

If at some point you get overwhelmed again by all of the messages appearing on your news feed page just go back to Edit Options section and update the settings on “Show Posts From”. For more on this topic check out this page on Facebook.

Another cool feature worth sharing here is a page called “Your Notifications” that lists out all notifications you’ve received by date! Helpful if you’ve been away for a day or two.
